Our 1st Conference Presentation [VIDEO]

Our 1st Conference Presentation [VIDEO]
April 11, 2013 Lainie Liberti

Although the Life Rocks Unschooling Conference ended just a few days ago, the experience left Miro and I completely changed forever. We are both putting together our posts about our experiences, but for now, Miro and I are resting and trying to recover from the flu. But in the meantime, we wanted to share with you a video of our talk we gave at the Life Rocks Unschooling Conference in New Hampshire, on April 4th, 2013.

Together, Miro and I wrote our script for our talk. We rehearsed and practiced our presentation countless times, and edited along the way. Our talk wasn’t memorized, but we knew the material inside and out and we felt comfortable using this format for our first presentation. Our time slot was about an hour and 15 minutes, so after our 30 minute presentation, we showed one of videos shot in Peru, then we opened it up for Q & A. We answered questions about so many things and as one hand went down as we answered their question, 3 more hands went up.

We had an audience of just under 100 people, who were all so kind, welcoming, engaged and warm. They didn’t seem to mind that we had a little bit of technical problems to start with. We had a slide show of varies shots from our travels prepared, which was meant to play before we started our talk. But the hotel’s A/V team couldn’t find a missing cable until we had already started our talk, so at one point during our talk, we stopped, start the slide show and it played during our talk for a while, which was a little distracting.

It’s difficult for me to watch this as I see the mistakes we made, the words we forgot, where we were flustered. I question why I wore that, and wonder, “does my voice really sound like that?????”

Then I look at Miro.  His confidence, his presence. I see what this lifestyle has given to him. I see the incredible man he’s becoming. I see the fascinating human being he is, and I smile with pride.

Stay tuned for a post sharing our experiences of the conference soon.

    This is awesome!!!!!

I loved it! Thank you so much for sharing. I love road trips with my son, but this is a whole other level, and you two amaze me. You are beautiful and your son is indeed a young man to be proud of. I can’t wait to share this with Skylar! I’d love for him to meet Miro some day. I feel like he could learn so much from him about being fearless. Incredible!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. <3

Really enjoyed this! As a family we are about to go ‘on the road’ again this summer and with so much uncertainty from our immediate friends and family about our lifestyle choices over the last few years, it’s always so good to meet others on a similar path. Thank you for sharing this 🙂
