UNSCHOOLING in Peru: Super Secret Project Revealed!

UNSCHOOLING in Peru: Super Secret Project Revealed!
December 17, 2012 Lainie Liberti

What happens when you lead your life through inspiration and inspiration strikes?

Well, you have to follow it, of course!

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”
~Joseph Campbell

banner_sidebarEarlier this year, Miro and I visited the Sacred Valley, here in Peru to experience the beauty, nature, history and ancient wisdom and received more than we ever expected.

Both Miro and I were so moved, we did not expect such a profound experience as a result of being in a “place”.  And for me,  my interest in archeology guided my desire to explore deeper than I thought possible, here in Cusco and the Sacred Valley of Peru. Through these explorations  I’ve ventured into ideas surrounding humanity, challenged the mainstream version of history and looked deeper at the ancient wisdom and mysticism. There is nowhere I am not willing to look and my experinece of the world around me continues to expand and widen.

And this profound “inspiration” was the reason Miro and I dreamt of bringing others to this magical place.

Miro and I both have a deep commitment to “learning”  applied through the unschooling principles, and we have discovered the power behind involving a committed group of people in the process. Ideas flow, discoveries are made and magic happens.  And so we envisioned creating an opportunity to make that happen for many other partipants, who are interested in the same thing.

And so, the idea for the Project World School  retreat was born and the vision surrounding natural learning within a community-based environment became the passion:

The Project World School retreat centers around the magic of co-creation and embodies the spirit of a learning community. The commitment to the community becomes inspiring support with the intention to experience the grandest version of ourselves in a nurturing learning environment.

So here’s the official announcement:

Project World School was born from an inspired idea between unschooling mom and son, Lainie and Miro. The pair have been living on the road for over 3 years and have engaged in natural learning as their life’s commitment (and are deliriously happy in the process). This mother and son duo have been living in Peru for over a year, and through exploring the sights, sounds and tastes contained within the Sacred Valley of Peru , they have become inspired to bring this experience to a wider group of people. Thus, the inspired idea to create a temporary natural learning community in Peru’s Andes was born.

Both Lainie & Miro have been forever changed through their exposure to the rich indigenous culture of Peru’s Sacred Valley, which has inspired them to learn about Andean mysticism, history, archeology, sustainability, arts and culture. The learning has been natural and the result enriching. Together, Lainie and Miro birthed a vision to share this special place, designed as a temporary learning community transformed into a magical retreat for unschoolers of all ages.

And so, the dream was born. Will you Join us?

With the help of some amazing people we  have dreamt and organized an incredible retreat for teens, adults and families to join in.

Wow, this must have taken some work! It sounds amazing and I know my ten year old daughter would jump at the chance (even if she is a little young); however, I also have a five year old who is still very much attached to me so that rules us out I’m afraid! Congratulations, and here’s to the retreat being a HUGE success for everyone-hopefully this will be the first of many!x

    education and travel is all

  4. What an amazing year and it has become still one of my favorite reads. Just when I begin to lose faith in bloggers doing too many sponsored posts or “Top Tens” you strike out with a hilarious mis-adventure about exams in China, or an inspiration post. Cannot wait to see where 2013 takes you and maybe we’ll finally bump into each other. Please, keep up the awsome and real articles because you are one of the rare few left giving people raw and exciting adventure. Onward to new adventure!

It sounds like a great idea and should be quite an adventure.

  6. This sounds like such an amazing opportunity. I wish that my personal situation allowed us to take this “unschooling” approach with my daughter. Unfortunately, having 50/50 custody with my ex means that we can only travel with her for a week or so at the time. Still, I truly admire what you and Miro are doing, and your desire to share it with others. It’ll be interesting to see how all our little adventurers evolve as they grow up!

What an amazing opportunity for kids! As a long-time schoolteacher, I’ve always said that being there and doing it is the absolute best way to learn history. I hope you have a FANTASTIC group of kids!

Great idea! I wish we had teens in the family. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity for them to learn about a lot of topics not typically discussed in school environments. Hey, maybe next time you can offer a retreat for adults with all of the same topics? 🙂
