I think, therefore I travel.

Below is a wonderful A-Z Philosophy of a Traveler.

These words resonated so deeply with the journey Miro and I have found ourselves on, we wanted to share them with you here.

A) I’m going take my time for I have all the time in the world.

B) Money is not money, time is money.

C) A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.

D) Focus on the journey, not the destination.

E) Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking that you have something to lose.

F) Travel not to go anywhere, but to go. Just travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.

G) Own only what you can carry with you. Speak the language, know the countries, know the people. Let your memory be your travel bag.

H) Travel far and fast, travel light. Leave all your envy, jealousy, unforgivingness, selfishness, prejudice and fear behind.

I) Throw your dreams into space like a kite not knowing what it will bring back… perhaps a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.

J) Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.

K) The sea is dangerous and its storms terrible, but these obstacles have never been sufficient reason to remain ashore… unlike the mediocre, intrepid spirits seek victory over those things that seem impossible… it is with an iron will that they embark on the most daring of all endeavors… to meet the shadowy future without fear and conquer the unknown.

L) Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

M) Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have traveled.

N) I don’t want to hurry it. That itself is a poisonous twentieth-century attitude. When you want to hurry something, that means you can no longer care about it and want to get on to other things.

O) It is better to try and fail, than to fail to try.

P) The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes.

Q) We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements in life, when all we really need to be happy is something to be enthusiastic about.

R) Joy, not happiness, is the goal of life.

S) The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created — created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.

T) Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road. Healthy, free, the world before me. The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose. From this hour, freedom! From this hour I ordain myself loos’d of limits and imaginary lines. Going where I list, my own master, total and absolute. Listening to others, and considering well what they say. Pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating. Gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the hold that would hold me.

U) The best way to predict your future is to create it.

V) We are brainwashed by our economic system until we end up in a tomb beneath a pyramid of time payments, mortgages, preposterous gadgetry, playthings that divert our attention from the sheer idiocy of the charade. The years thunder by. The dreams of youth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on the shelves of patience. Before we know it the tomb is sealed. Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

W) If you want to be understood… listen.

X) Improvise and let new experiences and insights take you in surprising new directions.

Y) Just for a few months of one’s life, is it so awful to travel through time with no greater ambition than to find the next lovely meal? Or to learn how to speak a language for no higher purpose than it pleases your ear to hear it? Or to nap in a garden, in a patch of sunlight, in the middle of the day, right next to your favorite fountain? And then to do it again the next day?

Z) I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
