Reflections of Time – Looking back on 2011

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
~Alexander Graham Belllsh

Goodbye 2011, it’s been swell!
Today is the last day of the year, and for me it’s analogous to the ‘one door closing’ saying. However in general, I don’t like looking back. Equally, I don’t like looking forward. There is an obvious dichotomy to living in a linear time frame while trying to relax into the present moment. And …

45 Changes – The Bandaloop Way

45 Changes – The Bandaloop Way

Today is my birthday.
Today I am 45.
Age is an issue of mind over matter.  If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.  ~Mark Twain
Sometimes I believe that. Other days I have a more difficult time. Today is one of those days.
Did I mention, today I turn 45?
Yes. 45.
This number to me has more impact than I thought it would.
45 is 5 short years to 50. (and 50 is a big BIG number!) That is a concept I am having a difficult time believing.  Seriously. It’s like it’s someone else’s life, someone …

Erosion of the American Dream

The American Dream

Once upon a time I woke up and realized the American Dream was our catalyst to knowing exactly what we DIDN’T want in order to focus on exactly what we DID want.
Not exactly what you expected to read, was it? But let’s back up just a bit….

The subject of the ‘American Dream’ has been a recent been a hot topic among many of our fellow family travel bloggers, we have decided to share our collective thoughts, with our own unique perspectives on the dream, so many base …

Naked at 700 Days

A Naked Reflection of 700 Days on the Road.
Before settling in to read this post, I’m going to tell you what NOT to expect, in this candid 700 hundred day reflection. This is not your typical travel post in any way. I will not share with you any drawn out and dramatic ‘best of’ lists. This post will not include any packing lists, trekking routes, hotel recommendations, favorite meeting spots or insider beach town surf tips. This post does not include opinions on the raddest party hostel, reviews on travel …

Inner Peace through Travel

Inner Peace through Travel

I was recently asked to guest post for Life Coach Mary’s blog, a wonderful  resource  for everything related to Inner Peace.  Life Coach Mary asked me to write an article for her about  accessing my inner peace through long-term travel. This was something I could clearly talk about. I write about our genesis which brought Miro & I to the place we now are and the article is revealing on a personal level. I wanted to share with you a snippet  of it here. To read the whole article, please go here.

Happy Birthday Miro!
[6 Apr 2011 | 5 Comments | ]
Happy Birthday Miro!

Once, I promised you the world!
I can’t believe it’s been twelve years since you came into my life. In that time, you have added so much meaning into mine.I am so grateful for your presence as you’ve taught me so much about being in the moment and loving what is.  In fact, you have taught me how to love, unconditionally, and I do love you so much for that!
Much has changed in our life circumstances, but as we move through this world together, I know you are the reason I am here, …
