Raising Miro

“I do it for the joy it brings, cause I’m a joyful girl. ‘Cause the world owes us nothing, we owe each other the world.” — Ani Difranco

Life is the greatest mystery!

I don’t know much on the greater scale of things, but there are a few things I have always known:

I have always known there are no defining rules, only defining moments.

I have always felt the energy of “life” flow inside of me.

I have always known I wasn’t obligated to the rules of convention or governed by the ideas of others.

I have always known the greatest pleasure I’ll ever feel is connecting with other beings and sharing an authentic moment.

I have always known someday I would share the world with my child.

Yes, life is the greatest mystery and it was never meant to be unraveled. Instead, life is meant to be experienced and enjoyed.

These are the guiding principals that light our path and define the journey of how we our lives.

Experience and joy.

Simple.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

I am Lainie, mother of a beautiful soul named Miro. By the time we left on our journey, he was 10 years old. I have been entrusted with the responsibility of his well being, welfare and eduction and it is truly an honor. His presence in my life has been the greatest gift of all and he has given me the strength to follow inspiration.

The inspiration is simple;
Let’s live a simpler life.
Let’s experience the world.

Let’s reconnect with what really matters.

As I sit here writing this, we have been traveling for 10 months. However the process of preparation started much before that. I invite you to follow along as we support each other on the road of life, as my son keeps me present and I continue to do my best to Raise Miro.

lainie and miroA single mom & son's travel blog & podcast, chronicling their nomadic adventures as they travel around the world together; Raising Miro on the Road of Life.

Miro and Lainie (mother 45 and 12 year old son) share their adventures from the Road of Life, discussing issues of humanity, global citizenship, unschooling, slow travel, family travel, volunteering & living in the moment as they explore the big beautiful planet, they call home.

Lainie and her son Miro began their 8 year adventure in 2009, starting in Central & South America. They are slow traveling around the globe allowing inspiration be their compass. The pair is most interested in exploring cultures, contributing by serving & connecting with humanity as ‘global citizens’. They invite you to travel along with them, share their experiences, on the Road of Life.
