A Family’s Journey to Philadelphia
What better place to take the family then The City of Brotherly Love, also known as Philly.
Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania, founded by William Penn in 1682. It is rich in history, so let us begin our journey there.
The entire family will enjoy an enriching, educational experience with a visit to Independence Historical National Park. Within this site alone you will want to visit Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution were formulated and signed.
Be sure to bring your camera, because across the street from the hall you will want pictures taken standing beside the Liberty Bell. Then you might stroll by the First Bank of the United States. This bank is not just first in name, but was actually the first bank chartered by the U.S. congress in 1791. Before leaving the park, go see the Ben Franklin Museum and United States Postal Museum as well.
Alright, enough education for the children? How about some fun then.
Sesame Place is not far away in Bucks County. It features all of the famous Sesame Street characters, intermixed with water rides and shows for kids of all ages.
The first zoo ever opened in America, The Philadelphia Zoo is located in Fairmont Park. It contains a special childrens zoo too.
Before leaving, what about a fun, family ferry ride on the Delaware River.
How about some fun for Mom.
There is shopping in Center City where you will find The Gallery at Market East, South Street, Jewelers Row and the Shops at Liberty Place to name just some of the many retailers at your disposal.
We didn’t forget you either Dad.
Depending on the time of year, sports of every kind await you. Just be prepared for the fanatical followers of Philadelphia’s professional sports teams that you will surely encounter. In spring and summer you have baseball with the Phillies. In winter, its the football Eagles, but you may have to bundle up for the game. In between, you have the 76′ers hoops and Flyers for some rough and tough ice hockey.
There is much more to do in Philadelphia then just what this article has allowed me to provide.
I am confident you will be looking forward to visiting again, as you are heading back to the Philadelphia Airport parking to drop of your rental car and fly home.
